2nd Blogiversary Giveaway!

Today, the 3rd August is my second blogiversary! I can't believe I've been blogging about my making and knitting for that long! Over the last two years, I've moved about from felting, collage, embroidery to dyeing yarn and knitting. I've also had a few health problems which have affected how much - or little - I have been able to do, which is just a tad frustrating when you like to be a busy beaver;-) So this last year has been challenging but it has also made me consider new directions in my work and possibly a new career - all from my creative passions.

I've met lots of new lovely friends here along the way so to celebrate, I've decided to hold a month of giveaways starting today!
Every monday I will be offering something new to give away. I've worked out there are 5 mondays in August so that's 5 chances of winning:-))

So today I have for you a lovely skein of sock yarn especially hand dyed in the colourway 'Tootiefruitie'. As well as being my name on ravelry, it just looks full of fruit colours and is a little bit colour mad! The skein is 100gms, enough to knit a pair of socks or a small shawl.

So to enter, all you need to do is tell me what you have made/created that you are most proud of and why. It could be something you have made recently or something you made when you were seven! Just leave a comment and you will be automatically entered for the draw. If you can't think of anything, then maybe there is something you would love to try someday.

I'll announce the winner next monday morning so you'll need to comment at the latest sunday night. The winner will be chosen at random and I am happy to post worldwide so everyone is invited:-)

This is my favourite dyed yarn to date so I can't wait to see what the winner will make with it! Good luck and I look forward to reading your posts - elaine x

  2. I will definately follow you across to this blog. I remember making my Dad an green ashtray from Paper mache in the 1970's - when it was still ok for kids to make ashtrays as craft projects at school. I was incredibly proud to find it on his desk one day when I visited his work. Come to think of it - I wonder if he actually ever used it. How functional is a paper ashtray...can you really put a burning cigarette out in it?

I'd love to be entered into the drawing for that scrumptous yarn!

    Happy blogaversary

  3. lovely yarn!

i'd like to enter this on behalf of my friend who is a knitting maniac.

her aim at the moment is to only wear hand knitted socks! the latest pair that i saw were done in neon bamboo yarn!

  4. I love the color combos - my favorite projects to date are those I've made for friends. In the last year, I've made several sets of baby blankets, booties etc for pregnant friends...

  5. Lovely yarn, great colors. I'm generally most proud of whatever I've done most recently that taught me something new or that I designed myself, so it's ever changing. Right now I'm pleased with two completed projects: a small wall hanging of a fragment of the Bayeux Tapestry embroidered using the traditional techniques and stitches and a lace knit purse where I learned how to correct (many) misakes in lace knitting.

  6. Happy 2nd blogiversary Elaine and beautiful yarn! :) Phew thank goodness I’m not the first to post ;) Well one of my latest, proudest projects has to be my hand-knitted Heatwave socks; namely because I designed the pattern and they were knitted in the first skein of yarn I’ve ever dyed. Oh well and what the heck, I suppose I’d also better mention my O Level needlework project as well; a beige boucle jacket, with very 1980s HUGE ‘Dynasty’ shoulder pads! All my friends were soooo jealous at the time! ;) It got me a Grade B though! :))

  7. Congratulations on two years with your blog. Being connected to other people doing the same thing is amazing.

I'm proud to have just finished a shawl for my sister (my own design). Then again, I'm proud of whichever object was finished last.
    Cheers!

  8. Happy blogiversary! I think I was most proud of the first pair of socks I ever made - they were ugly because the yarn I used wasn't very nice (hot pink baby acrylic is not ideal for socks), but I did a good job of them and actually got them to match.

  9. Congrats on 2 years! I guess it's the hats for the homeless I'm proudest of. Not because they are special, but because they are needed and used. I'm not so proud that I started doing them just to clean out stash rather than from a higher motivation.

  11. WOW - Those are some beautiful colors!

Probably one of the things I've made that I'm most proud of are some burp cloths. They were a last minute addition for a baby shower... They were simple to make, I had all the supplies in my stash, and I didn't think too much about them. But the mom-to-be (expecting twins this fall) loved them so much. She couldn't believe I actually made her something. Now I can't wait for them to pick names so I can make her a personalized set!

  12. Happy blogoversary!! Congrats!!!

I just finished some knitted lobster stuffed animals that I love, and that my nephew and niece (the recipients) also love. So fun! Plus I finished them on time (always a challenge for me!)

    Gorgeous yarn!!

  13. I followed links on dyeing yarn and found your blog. I love love love the yarn you are giving away! I can't believe you are willing to part with it. I think this combo is the reason I want to learn how to dye yarn!!

  14. I only just found your blog through raverly. I was looking at your very pretty beret for all seasons. My proudest project to date is the Shetland triangle that I am still working on right now. It'll be a christmas gift for MIL. It's laceweight yarn on US #3s, and although it's taking forever it's just looking sooo good.

  15. Happy 2nd blogiversary! I read the blog when you first posted but didn't want to be the first to post - how daft is that. The yarn looks beautiful - wish I had the patience to dye my own yarns. I remember being really proud of a Thomas The Tank Engine jumper I knitted for my son - he loved it and it was worn to death.

  16. Such beautiful yarn, and the color is stunning! LOVE it!!!

The project I'm most proud of is my first crochet afghan. It was just basic granny squares made from cotton yarn. I remember when I finally finished I was so proud of myself!

  17. Love the glorious colors.

My favorite project was a bedspread I made for my sister.

  18. Oooh I'm an Elaine too so I'm just destined to win this one - and I absolutely LOVE the tootiefruitieness of it!

The thing I'm proudest of at the moment is the one photo of my knitwear I have on my blog - a jacket I designed.

  19. Congrats on 2 years. The prize is gorgeous!

I'm really proud all the charity knitting I've done this year. Nothing too flashy but hopefully they'll keep some people nice and warm.

  20. Happy Blogiversary. Tuttiefruitie is just beautiful.

I'm proud of actually completing a pair of socks. I know lots of people do about 100 pairs a year, but for me, this was an accomplishment.

  21. The yarn is beautiful. You should be very proud.

I'm most proud of my first dying experience. More modest than Tootiefruitie perhaps, but I'm proud of it.

And thanks to the "other" Elaine for telling me about the contest.

  22. Happy 2nd blogiversary and what a riot of color.

I'm proudest of a couple of scarves I knit for my Mom who spent the first winter in the NE after many years in FL. This would make another beauty for her!

  23. fabulous colors. A real achievement.

Mine? I'd have to say knitting one of Hanne Falkenberg's designs. A million stitches per row, on tiny needles, and you never can figure out what's going on until the end so one slip up sends you into nowhere.

  24. My biggest accomplishment on the knitting front recently has been sticking to my yarn diet. Of course something as pretty as Tootiefruitie is enough to make me want to fall off the wagon. If you pick me though, it won't be breaking my diet.

    Anyway, happy 2 years!

  25. I'm really proud of a jacket I'm almost finished with using several different hand dyed sock yarns. If I win this contest, I'm sure Tootiefruitie will come to live in one of my hand-designed jackets.

I love all the hand dyed and hand painted sock yarns, but really hate knitting socks so this is my solution and I am really proud of it!

Congrats on managing something I can't do namely blog! And for 2 years. ALso, the cap is as cute as can be.

  26. Congratulations on a great-looking skein. You should be proud.

I'm proudest of my charity knitting. I always try to make it special so that the person who gets it is not only warm but knows someone cares!

My mother's name is Elaine, I just got a job that will be starting in a month in France, and today is my half birthday so I'm feeling lucky.

  27. congratulations on your two year anniversary. I really like your yarn very nice. One thing I am working on right now that I am proud of is my clapotis. I hand spun most of the yarn that I am knitting it with

  28. Congratulations on your blogiversry! Crystal sent me over - and now you have a new fan lol!

I really think my favorite thing I've knitted is a pair of wool shorties that I made for my littlest boy, and I had dyed the yarn myself :o)
